I woke up this morning and felt a bit apprehensive about swimming as the temperature this week has been as low as -3. However, I dragged myself out of bed and got into my wetsuit and drove to the lake with a determination to do this.
The air temperature was 4 degrees so it has warmed up slighly and the lake was 6 degrees!! Although some swimmers recorded the temp as 5.5 degrees with their own thermometer. Either way, it was much colder than last week and I have achieved 3 out of the 10 minimum swims needed for the sub 10 challenge with NOWCA.
The water was inviting and calm, the sky was grey and it was drizzling rain.
I entered the water and let the water into the neck of my wetsuit as usual to acclimatise, remembering to breathe! It actually felt really nice and i set off doing my usual breaststroke, head out to start. I attempted to dip my chin and face in and jeez it was cold!
I decided against front crawl as i couldn't face getting my ears frozen so I stayed with head out breaststroke.
I swam 400m, bringing my total to 2050m for November so far, plus one polar bear dip 💪🥶
Only one week left of this month and I have smashed it. Next week I am swimming at Sparth resevoir as I'm away for the weekend.
I have also managed to raise £150 so a good start there too.
No photographer this week so just a couple of lake shots, selfies, and a video of me rambling 🤣
